For many years, MCC has provided services to gang involved children / adolescents and their families. Interventions are based on the understanding that dysfunctional childhood experiences, negative environments and psychiatric disorders are often manifested in acting-out behaviors, such as gang involvement.

Program Goals

Stop illegal behaviors, to develop pro-social skills and connect to pro-social activities; to address underlying mental health issues that contribute to their maladaptive behaviors; to empower families in developing effective parenting skills.

Intervention Services

  • Assessment
  • Individualized Treatment Planning
  • Individual and Family Therapy
  • Psycho-educational Parenting Group (Gang Culture/Dynamics Group for Parents)
  • Intensive Home-Based Counseling with a strong service coordination component (focusing on Gang Culture/Dynamics, Social Skills Development and Anger Management)

MCC Counselors

MCC's counselors are trained in cross-cultural home-based counseling and the dynamics of the gang lifestyle/culture.

All counselors receive ongoing supervision and training.

Sexual Exploitation Services

Includes a trauma-informed, comprehensive assessment, that generally is between 3-5 sessions. A Bio-Psycho-Social history is explored and documented to include a sexual history in the context of past exploitive behaviors and coercion. This assessment includes an educational component to understand sexual exploitation through coercion, fraud, force, and other techniques utilized by traffickers.

Treatment options may vary by funding source.
