This assessment is used to determine the sex offender's risk to re-offend, identify risk factors, determine treatment needs, and develop a supervision plan to provide useful guidance to others working with the client. The polygraph is used to break down denial barriers, verifying the offender's sexual history. It is also used to monitor and supervise both the progress in treatment and the conduct in the community. There are three types of polygraph examination used for sexual offenders: The Instant Offense Examination, The Sexual History Examination, and The Monitoring Examination. The length of Polygraph examination is two to four hours.
